Florida 2016 Trip Report: Disney's Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is probably the most "well-known" Disney theme park. When you think of Walt Disney World Florida, you probably picture images of the famous Cinderella castle, which is the "icon" of Disney's Magic Kingdom park.

This is the park where I most experienced the Disney Magic. That feeling when you walk down Main Street and first catch sight of the castle... there's no way to describe it.

Rides & Shows

We were staying onsite at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort, so were able to book our ride fastpasses 60 days before the holiday. I went into major geek-mood and planned everything using a spreadsheet so we knew roughly where we were going each day. If you're going to Walt Disney World I'd definitely recommend downloading the My Disney Experience app. It's an absolute lifesaver. All the parks have free WiFi so you can easily rearrange your plans if you need to.

My top 5 rides at Magic Kingdom were;

  • 7 Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Space Mountain
  • Splash Mountain
  • It's a Small World (so much nostalgia!)
  • Peter Pan Flight

I also really enjoyed Mickey's PhilharMagic Show. It wasn't on our original to-do list, but we ran inside after it started chucking it down the one afternoon and were pleasantly surprise!

My only regret is we didn't get to see the Festival of Fantasy Parade, although I guess that just gives us an excuse to go back! We did manage to catch the Main Street Electrical Parade on the one evening (followed by the fireworks), which I loved.

Character Meets

Looking back through our photos I realised we didn't actually meet many characters in Magic Kingdom. We did however meet Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Minnie in their circus finery at Pete's Silly Sideshow. The photo of me and Goofy is one of my favourites! So much love <3

Where we ate

On our first day at Magic Kingdom we had lunch at the Beauty & the Beast restaurant Be Our Guest. This was a little expensive but in my opinion it was so worth just to see what it's like inside! The attention to detail inside was amazing and the food wasn't too bad either.

Breakfast with Winnie the Pooh at Magic Kingdom Crystal Palace

We also booked an early reservation for breakfast with Winnie the Pooh & Friends at The Crystal Palace. This was one of my favourite meals of the holiday! The food was delicious and the character interaction was brilliant. So many selfies!

If you're going to Magic Kingdom it's definitely worth booking an early ADR (advance dining reservation) for before the park officially opens. They let you in early so you can basically walk down Main Street while it's still quiet! We did this purely so we could get some pictures in front of the castle before the crowds started to swarm in.
