Florida 2016 Trip Report

I'm back!! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you may have seen I recently spent 2 weeks at Walt Disney World Florida. It was the most magical holiday I've ever been on. I took nearly 1,000 pictures while we were there (eeek!) I've therefore decided to split my trip report into sections, to make it easier to navigate around and see my advice on each of the parks we visited.

Port Orleans Riverside Resort - Disney World Florida

Where we stayed

We stayed at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort for the duration of our 2 week trip in August. We loved the convenience of staying onsite, and had access to the free Disney Transport which meant we didn't have to stress over driving or parking. Whenever we went offsite we used Uber taxis which was super easy and surprisingly cheap - much cheaper than using a local taxi company.

Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom and Epcot

Walt Disney World - Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom

Walt Disney World

As we were staying onsite at WDW, we spent most of our time at the Disney Parks. For those who don't know, Walt Disney World has 4 theme parks and 2 water parks;

We visited each theme park at least twice, then we spent 1 day at each of the water parks. We also went to see Cirque du Soleil at Disney Springs, which was incredible.

Universal Orlando Resort

Universal Orlando Resort

Universal Orlando

We originally planned to do three days at Universal, however after our first day we realised we could probably fit everything we wanted to do into two days. Universal has two theme parks;

The roller coasters are some of the best I've ever been on, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (located in both parks) is magical!

Connecting the two Universal parks is CityWalk, an entertainment district full of bars, clubs and restaurants. Unfortunately we were too tired to go on a proper night out, however it's on my 'to-do' list for next time (because there definitely will be a next time haha).

Dolphin Bay at Discovery Cove

SeaWorld Parks

I also just want to briefly mention the SeaWorld Parks;

We didn't visit any of these during our August trip, however I did go to all 4 of them on a separate work trip in January 2016. If you click the links above this will take you to the guides I wrote on each park after visiting them.

I personally think for a 2 week trip it's important not to try and cram in too much. Rest days are SO important. I would choose either Walt Disney World and Universal, OR Walt Disney World and the SeaWorld parks, OR SeaWorld and Universal.

Have you every been to Orlando in Florida?
