One of the main things my (very American) Stepbrother wanted to do while visiting the UK for the first time was to go for a tour around a (very British) castle and so yesterday that is exactly what we did.
Warwick castle is only about a 30 minute drive from my home town and while it's normally a little expensive to get in (£22.80 to see the castle and grounds alone, plus extra if you want to go down to the dungeons or up the dragon tower) we luckily had a bunch of "buy-one-get-one-free" vouchers just waiting to be used.
The weather wasn't really on our side but luckily the rain held out long enough for us to journey around the ramparts where there are some beautiful views of the surrounding Warwickshire countryside. The inside is then split into sections aiming to give a feel of the castle's history from different areas in time. I'm not going to lie and say I paid explicit attention to the information that went with these displays (other than the bloke in the medieval costume talking to the bunch of school kids about battle and armour in the 15th century - I want your job please!) but it was nice to have a look around and it was a really enjoyable morning.
This is what I wore for wandering around the castle. I went for comfort more than anything because I guessed (correctly) that it was going to be a long and tiring day. I've shown these joggers from Topshop already on the blog but always in a more dressed up kind of way so this is how I basically wear them more casually.
We headed over to Stratford after lunch to soak up some of the Shakespearian atmosphere, where I decided it would be a good idea to add a hat to my outfit and wander around without my shirt on (the denim one, not my t-shirt!) because it felt like it was warming up a bit. It wasn't. And the wind nearly blew my hat off. Never learn do I?
One thing I did learn yesterday is that if you decide to wear a slogan t-shirt on a day out you will have to put up with multiple people staring at your chest while trying to read what it says.
"I'd like to stay and chat but I really *moustache*" if you're interested.
At least I have a sense of humour right?
