When I saw Urban Decay were releasing a Game of Thrones make-up collection I was instantly intrigued. I bought the Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay a few years ago, and it was a game changer. It's now firmly one of my favourite everyday make-up products.
After watching several reviews on YouTube (including this really helpful video by sophdoesnails) I decided to take the plunge and order the eyeshadow palette. There are other items in the collection, including eye pencils and lipsticks. However I didn't think I would use them often enough to justify the cost.

First Impressions
When I opened the box my first thought was "WOW." Inside the palette is a mirror and pop-up iron throne. There are also two printed quotes; one from Daenerys and one from Tyrion. If you've never watched Game of Thrones then you probably won't get as much of a kick out of this compared to hardcore fans, but I thought it was pretty cool! The eyeshadows then slide out from underneath, as you can see in the photo below.
Although the packaging looks amazing, the downside is it's very bulky. If you were going on holiday it would take up a lot of space in your luggage.

The eyeshadows
There are 20 eyeshadows in total, split into four sections; White Walker, House Stark, House Lannister and House Targaryen.
All the colours are really pigmented and a lot of them have some sort of sparkle or shimmer, which I really like. I've seen a few people who were disappointed there weren't more matte colours in the palette, but I think it depends on how you plan on using it.
Since I bought it a few weeks ago I've mostly been using House Targaryen and House Lannister. I think the White Walker colours are lovely but I'm not sure I can pull off deep blue!
What I've found most impressive is how long-lasting the eye shadows are. Even when I apply them in the morning I find they're still there long into the evening, and still looking good!

The one thing that does confuse me is the way the palette has been designed. It's split into sections, so you instinctively want to use the colours that have been grouped together, together. However I think it works better to mix-and-match from different houses. For example, "Weirdwood Leaves" (House Stark) works really well with "Stormborn" and "Bend the Knee" (House Targaryen)
I also struggled to use the four transformer shades ("Bay of Dragons", "King’s Landing", "Winterfell" and "Hardhome") at first. However I've since found they are easier to apply when you use your finger instead of a brush.
Final thoughts
This is a really lovely palette and I think it would make a perfect gift for someone who loves both make-up and Game of Thrones. At £45 it's not cheap, however I'm happy I bought it as I feel like I'll use it enough to justify the cost.
Where to purchase
The Urban Decay Game of Thrones eyeshadow palette is currently sold out online (I keep seeing it go in and out of stock). It's still available in Debenhams and John Lewis, so worth popping to your local store if you're desperate to get your hands on it!
What do you think of the new Game of Thrones palette from Urban Decay? Are you a fan?

For some reason, I thought the palette would have darker shades as its what I felt was mot GoT.
I was expecting to see more browns and silvers in this. I like the way they've designed the packaging.
Now the colours in this have surprised me I think I would have expected more natural and browns and dark shades, though of course they are represented. Definitely a whole mix of colours on offer. Love how they have made this collaboration.
Oh this is expensive, I think you are paying for the name really, BUT big fans will love it Im sure and the colours are lovely!
Yes I definitely feel like it's been designed for hardcore fans, rather than the average user. It's so pretty though ❤️
Oh wow how cool is this! I love the range of colours there is too - very vibrant xx
Such an interesting eyeshadow palette. I love how beautiful the colours and packaging are!
Oh my goodness, this is so beautiful! I love all the shades... I need this palette in my life!
I love Urban decay, didn't realise they had a GoT collection
OMG this is awesome - this will be the perfect gift for someone I know
Oh wow, I didn't even know this was a thing! I love it though. Like you, I'm not too sure if my early morning sleepy eyes would be able to create combos from the different houses but I love them all anyway!
