A tale of 4 kittens

If you've followed my blog for a while you may remember reading my post (here) back in February about adopting two cats – Harley and Tallulah. You may also remember that not long after adopting them Harley sadly passed away. The whole thing was obviously so so upsetting, especially as he was only 2 years old and it all happened so suddenly (I wrote a post about it all here if you want to read the full story).

What I didn't mention at the time was that when me and my mum took Harley to the vets after he got sick I was asked if I knew that he hadn't been neutered. I didn't. When I adopted him and Tallulah I asked the people I was getting them off if they had both been neutered (since I knew I was adopting a male and a female) to which I was told that yes they had.

Clearly they had lied and so I obviously started to become worried about Tallulah, especially when a few weeks later she started getting a suspiciously round stomach. I booked her in at the vets for a check-up but at that time it was too early for him to feel if she was carrying kittens although he said there was a very strong possibility with the way she was looking (literally like she’d swallowed a beach ball!)

The next few weeks became a bit of a waiting game until finally last Friday (the 19th) I came in from work to find Tallulah wasn't in her usual spot at the window in the kitchen or on the sofa. Five minutes later I found her. In the corner of my wardrobe. With four tiny kittens curled up to her.

Photos taken today (2 days old)

At the moment they’re all happy and healthy so I’m just leaving it to Tallulah to look after them, although I’ve been keeping an eye on them to make sure they’re all feeding enough and everything. I haven't handled them much yet so I don't know how many boys/girls she's had, but one of them looks the spitting image of Harley! I've not 100% decided but I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep that one; the rest I'm going to sell on to good homes (I've already got a few people asking about them so I think it should be easy enough to find new owners for them all).

I'll be writing more posts keeping up-to-date news on how the kittens are getting on so watch out for them in the future :) in the meantime you can see more pictures regularly on my instagram (@samgriffyyy) or my twitter (@SamGriffblog).

I'm off to check in on them again. And ponder further whether all this my-cat-giving-birth-to-kittens malarkey means I am now essentially like a grandmother...

oh my gosh how adorable! it's nice to think that although harley is gone, he still left his mark in the world and gave you 4 gorgeous little kittens :)

This is just what my Mum said - Harley may be gone but his legacy lives on :)
