That time we went to the Harry Potter studios

As promised in yesterday's post here's a few lot of photos from my visit to the Harry Potter studios yesterday. I literally spent the whole day walking around thinking "OHMYGOSH I'M IN HARRY POTTER LAND"  like a massive nerd (but a happy one!) feeling the need to take photos of nearly everything.

Spent an awful lot of time trying to bat away comments from certain members of my family about how much of a tourist I looked with my shiny new camera swinging from my neck. Nearly succeed at it too right up until I got mistaken for a German tourist by an actual German tourist... At least I got a decent amount of pictures though, right?

Exploring the Harry Potter Studios

The first half of the tour involved seeing the main sets used in the production of the films, from the Great Hall to the Weasly's Burrow, as well as many of the actual costumes worn by some of the actors. We spent what felt like forever walking around this part as there was so much to see!

Butterbeer!

Half-way through the tour we also grabbed the opportunity to try out a mug of butterbeer. Opinions were a bit divided on this one - my sister loved the stuff whereas I thought it tasted like toffee popcorn melted and made fizzy, in other words - disgusting! If you've got a major sweet tooth you'd probably really enjoy it though.

Diagon Alley and Hogwarts in the Snow

The final leg of the tour was made up of the prosthetics and special effects department (really interesting stuff here), followed by Diagon Alley and last but not least the scale Hogwarts model in the snow, used for most of the external scenes shot for the films. This was probably my favourite part of the tour, although seeing all the different parts of the set was also down right amazing!

In fact, the only disappointment the whole day for me was how expensive the gift shop was. Nearly a tenner for just the one chocolate frog? Bit extreme in my opinion. Otherwise the whole experience was pretty much incredible! if you're a fan of Harry Potter and were thinking of visiting I would definitely recommend it.

Major urge to start watching all eight films back to back now...

Have you ever been to the Harry Potter studios in London? What did you think of it?

This looks awesoooome! I've never been a massive Harry Potter fanatic, but I do really enjoy the films so I think it'd be really fun to explore the studios there, it's been far too long since I was last in London too! x

Oh, I'm so jealous! I've been before, but it's such an amazing place you can't help but want to go back! My boyfriend isn't a massive fan of HP (devastating!) but he loved the Studio Tour. I didn't try the butterbeer as I was told it tasted like cream soda and I really hate that kind of thing!

Yeah I'd easily go back there for another visit - I'd especially love to go when the animal actors are there!
The butterbeer was one of the weirdest things I have ever tasted, I don't like cream soda either so you'd have probably hated it too!

I knew I was going to love it (major Harry Potter fan), but it exceeded even my sky-high expectations! I really agree with you about the gift shop though, it was nuts. I want to go back again actually, I think I'd like it just as much a second time around! Loved this post, reminded me how much fun I had there. xx
