My Favourite TV Series of 2017

After spending the past week binge-watching the first few seasons of Suits, I realised it’s been a while since I wrote a post about what I’ve been watching on Netflix. So I thought I’d put together a post on my favourite TV shows I’ve watched so far this year.

Should probs mention these aren’t just shows you can find on Netflix. I only tend to watch stuff on my laptop, as I’m in desperate need a new TV, preferably something that’s a decent size with amazing picture quality, like the Panasonic HDR 4K TV. I recently subscribed to NowTV and it’s honestly amazing. I signed up for the 2 week free trial and never cancelled it because I loved it so much!

Game of Thrones

I don’t think I need to say much on this one. This is one of the few TV shows that really is as good as the hype! If you love stuff like The Walking Dead and Lord of the Rings, you’ll probably love this too. My advice would be to give the first series a go, and if you don’t like it then don’t bother with the rest. The latest series has had me on the edge of my seat (don’t worry – I won’t post any spoiler!)

Grey’s Anatomy

I’ve been watching Grey’s Anatomy since the second series came out, which according to Google was over 10 years ago. It’s safe to say I’m pretty invested in it! At the start of series 1 Meredith, Christina, Izzy, George and Alex are interns. Bottom of the surgical food chain. As the series progresses you follow them through the ups-and-downs of their relationships inside and outside of the operating room.

If you’re looking for a medical drama which will make you laugh and cry, this is the one for you. Some of the storylines are a little OTT (if I worked at that hospital I would have quit around series 3!) but if you can get past that it’s actually a load of fun.

The Good Wife

Alicia Florrick is the wife of a politician, who is arrested and jailed following a high-profile sex and corruption scandal. To support her children, she returns to work as a junior lawyer at a law firm, having taken a break for 15 years to be a “Good Wife” to her husband.

My Dad recommended this to me, and I’m so glad I listened to him (for once!) I love law dramas, and this one is pretty addictive! There’s a few familiar faces in there too; Alicia’s husband is played by Chris North (aka “Mr Big” in Sex and the City), and Jeffery Dean Morgan (“Negan” in The Walking Dead”) makes an appearance in the last series. I recently started watching Suits, and I’d say they’re pretty similar, so if you liked one you’ll probably like the other.

13 Reasons Why

A few days after the suicide of his friend Hannah Baker, Clay Jensen receives a box of cassette tapes, recorded by Hannah before she died, explaining the 13 reasons why she ended her life.

This series carries a serious *Trigger Warning* as it’s incredibly graphic and difficult to watch at times, especially as the series progresses. Everyone was talking about this show when it first came out on Netflix earlier this year, and a lot of people had mixed reactions to it. While I wouldn’t say I *enjoyed* watching it, it definitely made me think, which was what the creators were trying to achieve.

Big Little Lies

Starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Alexander Skarsgård. Single Mom Jane moves to a new town, where she instantly becomes friends with two other Moms; Madeline and Celeste. The series flickers between the present day (where we start to understand *someone* has just been murdered) and the past, where the Mom’s children are starting school for the first time.

This is an amazing mystery that had me on the edge of my seat. The cast are excellent, and it’s made me really want to read the book. There’s a pretty major twist at the end which I didn’t see coming at all.

Have you watched any great shows recently? Feel free to leave recommendations in the comments!

For new series, I enjoyed Ozarks that is on Netflix, Stranger Things is awesome and coming back as well. Thrones of course is a fave! I found 13 Reasons Why absolutely traumatising to watch to be honest.
