Hello everyone, long time no blog! Things have been a little hectic around here lately and it’s safe to say my little blog has taken a bit of a backseat.
This week I received an email from my hosting provider to let me know my domain is up for renewal again. Every year I click that “renew” button without hesitation, but this year I stopped and thought long and hard about my blog and what I want to do with it.
It’s been 3 months since my last post (say whaaat) and recently I’ve been feeling a little disconnected from the blogging community. I didn’t start this blog to work with brands or to get “free stuff.” I started because there was something weirdly appealing about sharing my life on the internet.
Recently I’ve been feeling a little disheartened because I question why people would want to read my random ramblings. I find it so hard to stay motivated when I’m constantly comparing myself to other bloggers who seem to be doing so much better than me. Their photography is better. They have so many more followers. I find it so hard to keep up.
But then today I stopped and stated to think about the reasons why I enjoy blogging. I love writing. I love taking pictures. I love that feeling when I publish a post I’m proud of. I’ve also had some amazing opportunities through my blog (it helped me get my current job for one thing!) And I’ve met some genuinely lovely people at blogger events and through twitter.
I’ve lost sight of that recently, but thinking about it has made me realise I’m not ready to give up on my blog just yet. I’ve clicked that renewal button and will be celebrating Griff Blog’s 5th birthday in July(!) It’s hard to believe it’s been that long since it all started.
A huge thank you to everyone who stops by to read this post (I feel like I rambled a lot!) I won’t promise to start blogging regularly again, but writing this all down has definitely helped me get things in perspective. Hopefully I’ll start to get my blogging mojo back soon.
